‘The Punisher’ Goes to Albany

With the second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage out and on Netflix, fans wait patiently for the next installments of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. While it’s already been confirmed that Iron Fist will return later this year, it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2019 for Daredevil and The Punisher to return to Netflix.

According to NewYorkUpstate.com the Punisher will be filming scenes in Albany. Previously thought to be a show by ABC called “Crime”, it was confirmed via Times Union that this was just an alias for the Punisher. WRGB-TV’s helicopter caught footage of the filming and the Central Avenue Business Improvement District confirmed the scenes would include simulated gunfire, stunts and car chases. Albany Police would also be present to oversee the filming, which would stretch between 6 am to 9:30 pm. Apparently, an ambulance vehicle will be dropped from an overpass onto a parking lot.

While this is all very informative, it begs the question, why’s the Punisher in Albany? Are these scenes filmed in this location just for the scenery or will it be explained what Frank Castle is doing in upstate New York? It wouldn’t be the first time the vigilante went out of the five boroughs to complete a mission, as he trekked to Kentucky to locate Gunner Henderson in the first season. I’m sure it’s going to be a wild scene, considering an ambulance is expected to drop from an overpass!
